Pyramids and Kings

The world is such a "small place". Cairo is great. We landed last night at about 5pm and after working our way through the masses of people at the Cairo International Aitport - the new one, we organised a guide for tomorrow and caught a cab to the Salma Hotel in Giza, on the other side of the Nile. The guide came with us and the trip took at least an hour if not more. Cairo is incredible. The traffic is congested, they always toot at each other, the scenery is unreal and so old. There were houses for residents that were older than Australia. Between the sound of the latest pop sensation on the radio to the calls for prayer outside it really brought it home that I was in Egypt.  We made friends with a egyptian businessman called Omar and his Dad Aziz on the plane from Dubai. He was on his way back from Shanghai and when he realised that we were from Australia he just wouldn't stop talking. It was great to meet him as he answered all of Sally and my stupid questions about Egypt. He ended up pulling out his Laptop and showing us picture of all of his family and there holiday to Luxor. We leave from here in a couple of days to join up with the Budget Expedition group and travel down the nile to Luxor and Aswan, so you won't hear from me for a while.
