Well Emily arrived in London last week and after seeing the sites of London we left on our next adventure....Ireland. Yes we arrived safely in the land of the Leprechaun and home of Guiness to find out the reason why these hills are always green. RAIN! We spent our first day fighting the rain and gale force winds with only a small umbrella. We stood strong but took pictures of those who had fallen before us. It was great, we walked around through Temple Bar and the Liffey River taking in the atmosphere that you would think would be dampened by the rain. Nothing was going to stop us from seeing the site such as the Dublin Castle - exterior only unfortunately, the Dublina - sort of a theme park of Irish History and Viking impact on Dublin, Christ Church Cathedral with artifacts dating back to the 15th Century held in a place where trade of alcohol and tabacco took place, Arlington Hotel - display of traditional irish music and dancing, Kilmainham Gaol - location of In the Name of the Father and civil war casualties, and finally the Guiness Storehouse where despite my stomach we enjoyed a pint of the black gold overlooking the city. These activities have left us much more educated about the Irish and the History that preceeds them. We are off tomorrow to see the Glendalough and the Wicklow Mountains in the first of our day tours. Then off to Newgrange to experience the 5000 year old tomb that stands in the beautiful Irish countryside that we all know and love.
